Track 1: Bioretention Gardens: Design, Construction, Maintenance, and Management

Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) are becoming an important component of managing rainfall runoff throughout the U.S. Bioretention gardening is one of the most commonly used BMPs in stormwater management plans. This training focuses on Bioretention Gardens and key factors for designing, building and maintaining them for success. We’ll discuss the design, construction, and maintenance elements that are common to stormwater BMPs that utilize natural soils and vegetation to facilitate management of runoff. This workshop will provide valuable training for stormwater professionals, including planners, designers, and construction experts, to successfully implement BMPs in their communities.

Track 2: Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Training

This training provides erosion and sediment control basics for inspectors and designers. It helps attendees meet the MS4 requirements of Nebraska’s Department of Roads and the Phase II MS4 communities of Nebraska. This course is offered in partnership with NDOR, LTAP and H2O (Phase II communities).

An optional short exam is offered for the course, and a grade of 70 percent certifies a person for three years as an Inspector for NDOR projects. This certification can be transferred to other agencies and municipalities as well. NDOR employees and some personnel who do work on NDOR projects are required to obtain certification.
